A typo patch
This is a typo patch. Also, someone had apparently recommended this game on a forum of some sort? If you came here from there - hi! Glad to have you on board! There were suddenly a lot of views overnight.
I am about halfway done with Weylin's route patch, but also noticed that in the first group scene at the town house, I had gotten Sabina's and Vivian's names mixed up in more places than one. The overall ease of reading had to also be fixed in some of those passages.
As I have now finished this project and started on the next one, it is simultaneously cringe-inducing and fascinating to see how my mannerisms and writing have changed in three years.
I can also clearly tell that I wrote things "straight to production"; as I have mentioned prior, Said The Stars was more a test project than anything else. I started writing it thinking it would be a very low treshold story, so I also did not pay much mind to things like "how easy or pleasant this is to read" or even the overall cohesion of the story.
Still, when I compare this to Wolf Bride (the next project which is now at 15k), I think there will always be some people who will prefer Said The Stars over Wolf Bride.
Said The Stars could be described as a run of the mill story, because it does not have massive tragedy, major emotional conflicts or large overarching themes. Some people will consider these flaws.
(I, too, consider these flaws, but only because they were not intentional as I wrote Said The Stars.)
But they are not necessarily flaws. Wolf Bride will have massive tragedy, major emotional conflicts and a lot more torrid romance.
Said The Stars is first and foremost an adventure, I feel. A somewhat safe one, a very unique one.
As I continue to improve as a writer (and as my English language continues to improve - I am not a native) I can tell what kind of things I want to change, how to make my writing more appealing. How to make the writing so that it can communicate, more exactly, what I want it to communicate.
Overall what I feel is my largest shortcoming with Said The Stars is how hard it is to read, even for myself. Now that I look at it with editorial eyes, I can see that I was just writing the thoughts down directly the way they appeared in my head, not stopping to think if that was the best way to do so.
I am happy people have enjoyed the story despite my inexperience as I wrote it - even when now, looking back, I feel very self-conscious about everything I could have done better. That is the reason for the four major character arc patches I want to get out: to fix the readability, to fix the language, to fix the typos, to fix what there is to fix.
It will not change the story, of course. But it will hopefully make it easier to read, and communicate better all the things I have described.

Ah, that was me. We have a thread at Choice of Games' forum where we post other places IFs that we are fond of and want to share or get exposure for. I hope you don't mind? It's here, if you want to take a look at it.
